Subject: City of Soledad Draft Budget Released
The City of Soledad staff have completed preparation of the draft FY 2019-2020 budget and released it for public review. It can be found at City Hall between the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm. A City Council Budget Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26th at 6:00pm in the Council Chambers to review the recommendations. The public is invited to attend and provide input.
The document is a proposed work plan for the upcoming fiscal year based upon the collective expertise and consensus of the entire City staff leadership team. The total proposed City budget is $29,063,625 FY 2019-2020. Of this amount the General Fund accounts for $8,880,716. The budget is balanced and makes progress toward accomplishing the fiscal stability of the City.
Some major budget items in the budget include the following:
- New replacement playground equipment
- Replacement vehicles for the city’s aging fleet
- New positions in Water, Police Department, and City Hall to better serve the community.
- Replacement of the Community Center roof
According to City Manager Michael McHatten, “The budget is presented with cautious optimism. While the outlook appears promising, there are challenges on the horizon that will require the City’s continued diligence.”
