Container Village News and Updates

What’s Next?

The City is thrilled to share that the city’s Economic  Development Division has been wholeheartedly and diligently exploring a variety of potential grants to support the costs of our exciting upcoming project. We firmly believe that conducting a comprehensive feasibility study and impact report are key in evaluating the economic benefits and identifying the optimal financing options for the project’s construction.

In February of 2024, The City submitted an application for the USDA Rural Business Development grant, with the goal of securing funding for a feasibility study and impact report for our innovative container village project. Currently, we are eagerly awaiting a response from the USDA to discover whether our project will receive the grant. Should we be fortunate enough to secure the grant, we plan to partner with the Monterey County Business Council, a non-profit economic development organization, to aid in selecting a consultant who will be responsible for conducting the crucial feasibility study in the months to come. We are truly excited about the potential this project holds for our community and look forward to the positive impact it will have. (updated 8-1-2024)
