The City of Soledad Public Works Department celebrated another year of Public Works Week (May 19 – 25) with a large department BBQ!

The American Public Works Association (APWA) celebrates National Public Works Week with this year’s theme of “Advancing Quality of Life for All” by honoring Public Works Professionals for their ability to provide an infrastructure of services in transportation, water, wastewater, and stormwater treatment, public buildings and spaces, parks and grounds, emergency management and first response, solid waste, and right-of-way management.

The Public Works Department comprises five divisions: Administration, Engineering, Parks/Streets/Facilities Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, and Water Quality Services. The diverse responsibilities of the department’s five divisions are both a strength and a challenge: a strength in that there is tremendous variety in the many jobs and day-to-day activities of the Department and a challenge in ensuring that all of us strive to work in alignment to achieve the City’s values and goals to be fully in service to the residents and visitors who make Soledad a great place to live, work, and play.
