The City of Soledad has been contracting with CAL FIRE since January 2012 to provide full-time professional fire service to the City of Soledad and the Mission-Soledad Fire Protection District.  The Fire Department protects approximately 34,000 citizens within a 97 square mile response area.  Station 37 responds to over 1600 emergency calls a year.  Services are delivered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Annual Business Inspections

The City of Soledad Fire Department conducts annual business inspections to secure the correction of common fire hazards and code violations. The inspections can be done either by the business as a self-inspection or by the fire department. The department oversees inspections of over 400 businesses throughout the year.

The Fire Department utilizes the annual inspection program as an educational experience for business owners. The ultimate goal is for these owners to become familiar with preventative measures to ensure fire safety for their employees and patrons.

Fire Department Apparatus Descriptions

E37 – Engine 37 is a 2017 Smeal pumper with a 450HP Cummins ISL-9 diesel engine and a 3000 EVS Allison transmission. It has a 1500 GPM single stage mid-ship pump, auxiliary pump, 700 gal water tank and is equipped with all LED lighting.

E137 – Engine 137 is a 2008 HME (OES Spec) with a Cummins ISL-365 motor and an Allison transmission. It has a Hale 1500 GPM single-stage mid-ship pump, a Darley 180 GPM auxiliary pump, and an 850-gallon water tank.

U37 – Utility 37 is a 2009 Ford F-250, equipped with a medical bag and a defibrillator.
